Former Subway spokesperson Jared Fogle’s ex-wife says the company knew Jared was a pedophile more than a decade before he was arrested. Now she’s suing. We are not sure on what grounds that she can receive compensation from this matter, however she is going to try…
Story Details via TMZ:
Kathleen McLaughlin says in new legal docs — obtained by TMZ — back in 2004, a senior exec at Subway received a complaint that Fogle had approached a young girl at a Vegas promotional event and solicited a sex act.
The lawsuit claims the company received at least 2 other complaints over the years.
As for why Kathleen is suing … she says Subway made a decision in 2015 to market Jared as a family man, using her and their 2 children’s likeness in an animated commercial … knowing that there was a cloud over him.
Kathleen claims the ad — which aired 2,309 times — has caused her and the kids great damage.
She also says had Subway reported Jared back in 2004, she never would have tied the knot in 2010.
We reached out to Subway … so far no word back.

Michael Jackson’s estate has agreed to sell it’s remaining stake in a lucrative music catalog to Sony Corp. for $750 million, the entities announced Monday.
The catalog included publishing for major names such as Beyonce, The Beatles, Bob Dylan and others.
via USA Today:
The agreement for Jackson’s half-share of the Sony/ATV Music Publishing catalog will give the company sole ownership of works by The Beatles, Bob Dylan and other hit making musicians, including Eminem and Taylor Swift.
The deal is another posthumous blockbuster deal for Jackson, whose estate has erased the singer’s massive debts through a mixture of new music and movie ventures and re-releases of the singer’s most popular music. Jackson’s estate benefits his mother and three children, known as Prince, Paris and Blanket.
“This agreement further demonstrates Sony’s commitment to the entertainment businesses and our firm belief that these businesses will continue to contribute to our success for years to come,” Sony Corp. president and CEO Kazuo Hirai wrote in a statement.
The sale does not include rights to Jackson’s master recordings or songs that he wrote, and the singer’s estate will continue to have a stake in EMI Publishing, Inc.
“This transaction further allows us to continue our efforts of maximizing the value of Michael’s Estate for the benefit of his children,” the co-executors of Jackson’s estate, attorney John Branca and music executive John McClain, wrote in a statement. “It also further validates Michael’s foresight and genius in investing in music publishing.”
Jackson purchased the ATV portion of the catalog in 1985 for $41.5 million, and he later merged it with Sony. It remained his most lucrative asset at the time of his death in June 2009 at age 50, though by that point Jackson was hundreds of millions of dollars in debt.
The deal for Jackson’s half of the Sony/ATV catalog is expected to close by the end of March.
We are not sure why the Estate ran by Michael’s mother sold the lucrative catalog, however that was a smart move by Michael to invest in publishing.
A black student who says he was profiled by Barneys NY for purchasing an expensive designer belt won a $45,000 settlement from the retail giant.
Trayon Christian said he used his debit card to purchase a $349 Ferragano belt at the Barneys’ flagship store on Fifth Avenue on April 27, 2013.
Christian said he was followed out of the department store and “hassled” by two undercover NYPD detectives.
The former engineering student at the New York City College of Technology said the police didn’t believe he could afford the expensive designer belt.
“They said my card wasn’t real, it was fake. They said someone at Barneys called to report it,” Christian told The NY Daily News in October 2013.
The detectives demanded to look in his bag, and they asked him if he was employed and where he worked.
“The detectives were asking me, ‘How could you afford a belt like this? Where did you get this money from?’” Christian told the News.
Not satisfied with his truthful answers, the detectives cuffed Christian and took him to the 19th Precinct stationhouse.
Two hours later police released Christian and offered a weak apology. They returned his belt and his debit card, he said.
In October 2014 Barneys paid $525,000 to settle other racial profiling claims.
Barneys’ business partnership with rap mogul Jay Z in 2013 tarnished the 47-year-old’s image in the black community.

Just one energy drink can cause potentially harmful spikes in both stress hormone levels and blood pressure in healthy young adults, according to a new study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).
Lead researcher Dr Anna Svatikova, a cardiologist at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, said that after drinking a 16-ounce can of “Rockstar Punched,” young adults had a 74 percent increase in blood levels of the “fight-or-flight” hormone norepinephrine.
That’s more than double an average 30 percent increase in norepinephrine that the same participants experienced when they consumed a sham energy drink, according to Svatikova.
The fake energy drink contained the same amount of sugar and nearly the same calories, but did not include natural stimulants found in the Rockstar drink, she said.
The stimulants in the real energy drink included caffeine, the amino acid taurine, and extracts of guarana seed, ginseng root, and milk thistle.
According to the US Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), energy drinks can contain up to five times more caffeine than a typical cup of coffee.
The study found that the young adults also experienced a significant rise in blood pressure after consuming the energy drink.
“The worry is that if these responses are seen in healthy young people, perhaps the effects of energy drinks may be more pronounced in people who already have high blood pressure or arrhythmias, leading to more heart attacks and strokes,” Svatikova noted.
These drinks, which are marketed as beverages that can boost physical and mental performance, are growing in popularity, particularly among adolescents and young adults in the United States and beyond.

Attorneys for the family of Ahmed Mohamed, the Irving High School student who made international headlines after being arrested earlier this year for bringing a homemade clock to school, have sent letters to both the city of Irving and the Irving School District demanding apologies and $15 million in damages.
Both letters claim that Mohamed’s civil rights were violated, and he and his family have suffered physical and mental anguish because of the ordeal.
The letters claim Ahmed was singled out “because of his race, national origin, and religion.”
“Ahmed never threatened anyone, never caused harm to anyone, and never intended to,” read the letter to the city. “The only one who was hurt that day was Ahmed, and the damages he suffered were not because of oversight or incompetence. The school and city officials involved knew what they needed to do to protect Ahmed’s rights. They just decided not to do it.
The letters demand $10 million be paid to the family by the City of Irving, and $5 million from the school district.
The family also wants written apologies from Irving Mayor Beth Van Duyne, “acknowledging that she has never been presented with any evidence that Ahmed was a ‘pawn’ in any ‘civilization jihad’ or that the events here were planned by Ahmed’s family or friends as part of an ‘influence operation.'”
They also want apologies from the school district, as well as Police Chief Larry Boyd, saying Mohamed “never intended to threaten anyone, and that his detention, interrogation, and arrest were wrongful and were made at a point in time when there was no reasonable suspicion to believe that Ahmed had committed a crime or was about to commit any crime.”
The family’s attorney ends the letters by saying civil action will be filed if the demands are not met within 60 days. Read the letters below.
An outbreak of E. coli linked to Chipotle has expanded to six states.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says new cases have been reported in California, New York and Ohio. Cases were reported in Minnesota earlier, while the majority of illnesses have been in Oregon and Washington.
The agency says the investigation is ongoing to determine the specific food that is linked to the illness.
So far, the CDC says 45 people have been infected in relation and that 16 of them have been hospitalized. There have been no deaths.
Late in October, Chipotle Mexican Grill closed 43 restaurants in Oregon and Washington after health officials discovered most of the people sickened in an E. coli outbreak had eaten at the chain’s restaurants. The restaurants have since reopened.
