In Chicago alone, there have been well over 2,500 victims of gun violence so far this year. The latest, nine-year old Tyshawn Lee, was killed Monday afternoon. With 391 murders in Chicago this year, the homicide rate is up 18 percent over a year ago — and the victims include 40 children.
“Please, put the guns down, please,” his mother, Karla Lee, pleaded. “Taking too many young lives. Please.”
A dispute over the last piece of fried chicken ended tragically, as things turned violent in Houston this past weekend. Police say several witnesses saw the fight, which began over the last piece of homemade fried chicken. Apparently, there was only a drumstick left and the two roommates began arguing. The two then went outside to fight when one of the men was stabbed with a steak knife.
Both men were Cuban and shared the apartment with three other men. According to HPD Homicide Detective Fil Waters, “There was a single drumstick in the pan. … You can’t script this stuff. It’s someone getting killed over a piece of chicken. Pretty tragic.”
The suspect fled the scene but returned later and was arrested.
George Zimmerman continues to exemplify callousness and inhumanity by posting a photo of the teenager’s dead body. In a previous tweets, an unrepentant Zimmerman, in a real soc
A few days ago, a hero worshiper of Zimmerman, who goes by the Twitter name @seriousslav, tweeted “@TheRealGeorgeZ Z-Man is a one man Army,” along with the photo of the innocent teen’s corpse on the night he was killed by the self-appointed neighborhood watchman.
After the loony admirer of Zimmerman tweeted him that macabre photo of the lifeless Martin, the sociopath Zimmerman promptly retweeted the photo to his 10,000 followers.
This represents the second time in two months that Zimmerman has bragged about killing Martin. If you recall back in August, Zimmerman responded to Twitter user by tweeting, “We all know how it ended for the last moron that hit me,” a clear reference to the night he shot and killed the unarmed Martin.
Since the trial, Zimmerman has been involved in multiple police stops and violent incidents. He has been stopped several times by law enforcement for a variety of reasons. And then he assaulted his ex-wife and another girlfriend in separate incidents. He was also involved in a few road rage incidents that led to him nearly being shot by a fellow driver earlier this year.
A man in Hartford, Connecticut was not to please with his side girlfriend getting pregnant. Carlton Bryan took things to the extreme once he discovered that his side girlfriend was pregnant.
According to reports by WFSB in Hartford, Connecticut, Bryan put together a plot to kill the woman who was pregnant with his child.
Bryan, 23, asked the pregnant woman, Shamari Jenkins, to have an abortion after she told him that she was pregnant. However, Jenkins wanted to keep the child and was four months pregnant when Bryan put together a ridiculous plan. Bryan hired his friend Matthew Allen Hall-Davis, 24, to shoot and kill Jenkins.
Jenkins was driving her car with Bryan sitting in the passenger seat when the shooting occurred. Hall-Davis drove beside Jenkins and began firing into the car. Jenkins was shot in the shoulder and the bullet traveled through her body.
Bryan was not hit by a bullet and called 911. Jenkins was rushed to the hospital, but later died. On the next day, Bryan arrived at the scene of the shooting where Jenkins’ family and friends held a vigil for her. He hugged and greeted Jenkins’ family members as if he was in mourning.
But police soon discovered that Bryan was responsible for hiring Hall-Davis to commit the murder. During the trial, Bryan revealed that he wanted Jenkins for sex and wanted to stay with his other girlfriend with whom he has a child.
Bryan was convicted of being an accessory to murder and faces life in prison. Hall-Davis was sentenced to 70 years in prison.
According to reports by the NY Post, Mina El Houari, 25, of France began an online relationship with a man from Morocco.
After months of communicating with the man online, El Houari decided to catch a flight from France to Morocco to meet her suitor. She eventually traveled to the man’s home where the two began talking.
El Houari collapsed during their conversation. The man, who has yet to be identified, told authorities that he panicked because he thought she died. He dug a whole in his garden and buried the woman alive.
For weeks, the man didn’t tell anyone about El Houari and her family became suspicious. They flew to Morocco and pressured police into questioning the man. Police went to the man’s home and discovered the woman’s buried body.
El Houari was diabetic and likely collapsed due to health issues. While in the makeshift grave, she suffocated to death.
The man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.
Over the past two years, Florida has been in the spot light for it’s shocking verdicts on “Stand Your Ground Law”. Many states have implemented this law, however Florida is the stand out state for its apparent unfair rulings, and jury verdicts on judicial decisions.
The Michael Dunn verdict on Saturday – where the white, 47-year-old software engineer was found guilty on attempted murder charges, but not on a first-degree murder charge for killing a 17-year-old black youth, Jordan Davis of Atlanta – has once again put the issue of armed self-defense firmly in society’s crosshairs.
The hung jury on the main murder charge came seven months after George Zimmerman, a half-Caucasian, half-Hispanic neighborhood watch captain was found not guilty in a murder trial for killing Trayvon Martin, another black 17-year-old who, like, Jordan Davis, was not armed. Social media was outraged with the recent verdict, as a second African american male was not given justice. A recent interview on CNN Anchor Don Lemon with Holly Hughes shed some light on the comparison in the law…
In both the Dunn and Zimmerman trial, their defense lawyers did not invoke Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law in their criminal trials, but his “justifiable use” of deadly force, as defined by state courts, which likely played a role in the jurors’ decision not to convict on the specific murder charges presented by the prosecution.
This same defense has been utilized in African Americans, which often result in a 25 year sentence. A former U.S. airman is currently sitting in a Florida prison for what his supporters argue was a simple act of self-defense.
In the spring of 2010, 26-year-old Michael Giles was on active duty with the Unites States Air Force and stationed in Tampa. The married father of three had recently finished two tours in the Middle East and was looking forward to a career in the military, says his family. One night in February, a friend invited Giles to party at a Tallahassee nightclub. Shorty after arriving, a fight broke out among members of fraternities from nearby Florida A&M University.
According to court documents, an argument quickly escalated into a brawl involving 30 to 40 young men.
Giles reportedly was not involved in the melee but, separated from his friends, went outside to the car where he had a gun, for which he had a concealed carry permit. Giles put the weapon in his pants pocket and searched the crowd for his friends. Suddenly, he says, someone from the crowd punched him. Knocked to the ground and in fear for his life, Giles says he pulled out the gun and fired one shot into the leg of his alleged attacker.
Three men were injured, wounded by bullet fragments. Giles was immediately arrested and charged with second-degree attempted murder.
IS THE LAW WORKING?
Raw story reported:Republican Florida state Rep. Matt Gaetz told CNN on Monday that his state’s so-called Stand Your Ground law was working for African-Americans even though he thought it had been wrongly used to find Michael Dunn not guilty of murdering 17-year-old Jordan Davis.
“I don’t think anyone is going to nominate George Zimmerman or Michael Dunn for person of the year,” Gaetz explained to CNN host Carol Costello. “But I think, overall, the Stand Your Ground law has worked for the state of Florida. If you look at the five years preceding Stand Your Ground’s passage, the murder rate was on the rise Florida every year. Since we passed Stand Your Ground, the murder rate had declined every year.”-
Are there other states that have the “Stand the Ground Law”?
The Huffington Post recently reported about the growing number of states which have implemented the “Stand Your Ground Law”. The law is growing as violence, and home invasion have increased over the past decade.
CAN YOU BELEIVE IT? The moment you have been waiting for the past year and a half, especially Trayvon Martin dad! Now’s your chance to kick George Zimmerman‘s ass with zero legal repercussions — he just agreed to a celebrity boxing match … and he says he’ll fight ANYONE … even black people.
TMZ reports: Celebrity boxing promoter Damon Feldman threw down the challenge, offering George money to step in the ring. Now here’s the kicker … the opponent has NOT been selected.
We’re told George is open to fighting a black person, but the promoter is not discriminating, telling us “We’re not looking at it as a race thing … We haven’t discussed purple, yellow, white, black.”
Lately George has been more interested in boxing than guns … regularly training in the ring.
