Ride Along Grosses Over 48 Million

This past weekend box office tally has a record breaker as the winner. Producer Will Packer with Rainforest films/Packer Productions, has another blockbuster to add to his list of successful movies.

Ice Cube,  Tika Sumpter, and Kevin Hart  pictures above, at the New York premiere of “Ride Along” may reflect  how the trio must be feeling about the film’s success right now.

The cop-comedy grossed over $48 million over the weekend, setting a box office record for having the biggest Friday-Sunday opening in January history! Over the four-day MLK holiday weekend, the flick is projected to take in a grand total of $49 million, setting another box office record for biggest MLK weekend opening ever!

The stars in this film have clearly worked to build this success. Kevin Hart, who started his career in 1992, on BET Comic View, has been rising from the bottom to his current status as a “King of comedy”.

He’s also doing very win off the big screen as well. In 2012, he launched the “Let Me Explain” comedy tour, selling out Madison Square Garden for two straight nights, and he later turned the footage into a self-financed documentary that raked in over $32 million at the box office.  The project only cost $2 million to make.  He’s also dominating TV, with his Real Husbands of Hollywood premiering last year with 4.1 million viewers on BET.

This team worked very hard promoting the film throughout the nation. MADD LOVE to Ride along!
