Various celebrities and hair brands descended upon Atlanta this weekend to participate in the annual Mid-Winter Bronner Bros. Hair Show. Actor/comedian Marlon Wayans, R&B singer Bobby Valentino, So So Def’s Dondria and singer/”R&B Divas Atlanta” star Latavia Roberson all stopped by the Strength of Nature booth to get a glimpse of their newest product, the Beautiful Textures Reversible™ Straightening Texture Manageability™ System.
In town promoting his upcoming horror spoof A Haunted House 2, Marlon spent the day at the Bronner Hair Show yesterday participating in an autograph-signing, doing interviews at the UPSCALE booth and touring the exhibit hall floor. The writer/producer ended his day at Twelve Atlantic Station at a press reception where over 80 journalists grilled the funnyman on the Oscars, his family legacy and what viewers can expect from A Haunted House 2 (in theaters April 18).
Marlon Wayans ended his Atlanta press tour yesterday with a visit to Clark-Atlanta University. The A Haunted House 2 star attended a Meet & Greet and autograph-signing that drew a crowd of over 400 students. The event was hosted by student Ta’Kaiya Jackson, who gave away screening tickets, screened the movie trailer, and led the audience in a Wayans trivia game.
Upon his arrival, the students went into a social media frenzy. Marlon opened his remarks by letting the students know how honored he was to be in the room, and followed up with a joke about being denied acceptance into the university. Student comedian Terrance White surprised Marlon with a brief stand-up routine, which was followed by an hour of autographs. Before leaving campus, Marlon conducted interviews with campus media outlets WSTU, WCLK, CAU-TV and the CAU Panther.

The 2014 Alvin Ailey Tour kicked off on February 4, 2014 in Washington D.C., and is currently live on stage throughout the South East region. In a recent showcase in Atlanta, Georgia, The dance company amazed the audience with new and innovative dances, choreographed by Artistic Director Robert Battle, “who understands the limits of a company’s past, even if that past is still popular beyond belief” (Time Out Chicago), he is pushing boundaries by presenting new works from leading international choreographers in addition to Company favorites such as “Revelations”.
The new dance numbers celebrated the life of Mr. Alvin Ailey, with a musical soundtrack to Jazz artist Duke Ellington. This year’s dance ensemble included dancers from various backgrounds and races. The diversity of the dance company, has offered audiences a unique look to various dance forms, shapes, and styles brought to life on stage. It is a great eye popping, and insightful experience for all ages. This year tour celebrates diversity in dance, music, and culture.
During a matinee Q&A segment, the dancers shared inspirational comments and feedback to aspiring young dancers. The rich history of the Alvin Ailey Dance Company has played a major role in the dancers’ decision in joining the world renowned company. One dancer shared that she would work in the theater in New York as an attendant, to get more familiar with the dance company. This allowed her to study the company’s style , and prepared her for audition, which worked perfectly.
The 2014 Alvin Ailey Dance Company North American Tour is one of the greatest dance experiences that one can view. The diversity of the show, the smooth moves, and the signature choreography is worth it. You can see the following remaining dates of the 2014 Dance Tour below (It’s a must see!)
